Social Media Management Series - Episode 4

So, if you or someone you know would be good for this role, head over to&nbsp;<a href="http://www.eurodigitalpartners.com/jobs">eurodigitalpartners.com/jobs</a></p> <p><span style="font-size: 10px;">So, with that in mind, let us begin with the Euro Digital Partners series on social media management and in this fourth part, we will discuss reporting to stakeholders.</span></p> <p>If you are new to this series, you might be interested to know why we created it.</p> <ul> <li>First, we wanted to acquaint potential customers with our way of thinking about social media and how we approach campaigns.&nbsp;</li> <li>Second, we wanted to promote a forthcoming video series that we are doing on social media.</li> <li>Additionally, there is another benefit to those looking for great tools for marketing. Euro Digital Partners is working with the marketing intelligence tool, SEMrush, to develop a course on social media management. The course and this series will go a long way to prepare you for the SEMrush certification exam. It is a great way to prove to your employer or future employer that you are the digital marketing expert they need.</li> </ul> <p>On that note, we arranged, for you, a free 14-day trial with SEMrush. But again, that URL is&nbsp;<a href="http://beatyourcompetition.online/">http://beatyourcompetition.online</a>.</p> <p>In this series, we already discussed how to create a social media strategy utilizing SMART Goals, and based on an assessment of your competitors&rsquo; strategies; then secondly, develop a posting schedules with effective, diverse content for your social media channels; then third, we made an analysis of whether&nbsp;we beat our competition!</p> <p>Clients and stakeholders want to results, but the thing is, they will not know about them if we do not show them. That is why this final installment of the Euro Digital Partners&rsquo; Social Media Management series is about reporting.</p> <p>Before we move to the final section of this course, we should circle back and re-emphasize the importance of scheduling in social media.</p> <p>Social Media Pros know that success in your social media campaigns is all attributable to planning and effective time use.</p> <p>For this reason, Euro Digital Partners&rsquo; uses the SEMrush Marketing Calendar tool. The Calendar helps us group marketing activities by goals within Campaigns.</p> <p>If you want to use the tool, there are three steps we suggest you take when creating your first social media campaign with SEMrush. Remember, the bigger your team, the more important the planning becomes. In fact, it can mean the difference between a smashing success or an abysmal failure.&nbsp;</p> <p>We recommend you</p> <ul> <li>Set your goals, budget, target audience and other campaign-related information;</li> <li>Then add all the marketing assets you need to run your campaign;</li> <li>And finally, discuss your campaign&rsquo;s progress with your team</li> </ul> <p>To get started, head to the Management section in the SEMrush sidebar</p> <p>Begin by clicking the Marketing Calendar, and then click the&nbsp;<em>Create your first Campaign&nbsp;</em>button, if you have not already set up a campaign.<em>&nbsp;</em>If you have, you can add another calendar if you have a Business-level plan.</p> <p>At this point, enter the campaign title, set the dates of the campaign, and assign it a color.</p> <p>Click the&nbsp;<em>Campaigns</em>tab where you can give an overview of multiple campaigns, then try clicking the&nbsp;<em>New Activity&nbsp;</em>button.</p> <p>Entering the activity name, you can then edit details like due date, description, add tags, attachments, and comments, and as a plan subscriber, you can share the calendar with others.&nbsp;</p> <p>Importantly, you can set in-app and email notifications as well as import ICS files from existing calendars in other applications. ICS is a common extension for&nbsp;<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ICalendar">iCalendar files</a>, which are used to send calendar data. The extension is supported by several tools, such as Google Calendar and Apple Calendar.</p> <p>If you need to export the calendar, click the&nbsp;<em>Export CSV&nbsp;</em>button from the Calendar tab. The calendar will download in a spreadsheet compatible-file.&nbsp;</p> <p>Now we have explored all the relevant tools we use in our toolkit to beat your competition in social media. Still, we would not be professionals if we did not report the results of our efforts to our clients and stakeholders.</p> <p>Fortunately, our SEMrush tool offers a flexible tool for reporting the information you may feel is most relevant to those stakeholders.</p> <p>Heading back to the Semrush site, return to the sidebar menu and under&nbsp;<em>Management</em>, you fill see the menu for&nbsp;<em>My Reports.&nbsp;</em>Click the&nbsp;<em>Plus&nbsp;</em>symbol and you will be prompted to create a new PDF report.</p> <p>Click&nbsp;<em>Blank,</em>at which point you will be taken to the<em></em>Report Builder.</p> <p>Then click the&nbsp;<em>Social Media tool</em>option, where you will be presented with the report widgets that you may find the most useful to present.</p> <p>Dragging and dropping the widgets from the sidebar into your report window will present you with some parameters for creating a completely customizable report.&nbsp;</p> <p>Note that clicking the star next to the report in the sidebar will prioritize it as a favorite, while clicking the info circle will show you a preview of how that widget might look in your report.</p> <p>There are a couple of ways to organize these widgets. One way is to think about them in terms of data type, for example, table, bar, chart, trend, or line graph, etc. Another way to think about the organization of your custom report is to think in terms of internal versus external.&nbsp;</p> <p>Some of the charts, like the&nbsp;<em>Engagement trend by type&nbsp;</em>chart will report data only about one of your own channels. Other charts like the&nbsp;<em>Competitors comparison trend (Engagement)</em>chart will show your client how you are competing against certain competitors. You can set your competitors using other tools as found in Domain Analytics, and then choose which competitors you want to include in the chart.</p> <p>Our favorites include the Social Media Activity, Facebook Reactions Distribution, Social Media Audience Trend, and Social Media Competitors widgets.</p> <p>One of the powerful aspects of the Report builder is that you can create reports that juxtapose data visualizations side-by-side while organizing the page layout using elements like headers, text boxes, images, columns, and page breaks.&nbsp;</p> <p>You will want to be sure to upgrade your SEMrush account so that you can use your own logos on the cover page &ndash; a nice touch that your clients will appreciate.</p> <p>Once done with setting up your report, be sure to edit your cover page, but remember that you can edit it later by clicking&nbsp;<em>Quick Modify</em>. Now let us finish the report by clicking the&nbsp;<em>Generate PDF Report</em>button. You will be given the option to email this report, schedule this report if you want it to recur on a regular basis, and you can also enable a table of contents.&nbsp;</p> <p>Finally, click&nbsp;<em>Save Settings&nbsp;</em>then click&nbsp;<em>Generate.&nbsp;</em>The report is generated, and automatically downloads to your designated Downloads folder on your device.</p> <p>Also, remember that you can automatically generate PDF report from Social Media Tracker by clicking PDF button on the needed page.</p> <p>Let me end this course by suggesting a couple of tricks and tips for reporting.</p> <p>- &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;First, let me remind you that clients like to see data in different ways, so when you send a monthly report to your client, send several that paint clear, but diverse views. For example, try sending the social media activity report, the Facebook reactions distribution report, the social media audience trends report, and the social media competitors report.</p> <p>- &nbsp;&nbsp;Second, if you get lost or need some inspiration, head to the&nbsp;<em>Tutorials</em>button. Tutorial buttons are found throughout SEMrush&rsquo;s tools to assist you in creating an effective workflow.</p> <p>- &nbsp;&nbsp;Finally, and perhaps most importantly, get a native speaker to proof your reports &ndash; nothing turns customers off faster than a report full of misspellings, poor grammar, or out of context content. You may notice general trends that apply to all clients, but never forget that each channel for each client represents a unique audience &ndash; no two are the same.</p> <p>The Social Media Tracker will help evaluate how your content is performing, and why. Use it to analyze engagement rates, along with the different types of engagement for each post. Use the Tracker to determine whether your users are still preferring photo over video, or links over no-links posts.</p> <p>&nbsp;<span style="text-decoration: underline; font-size: 10px;">&nbsp;</span></p> <p>You can use the Tracker to compare your results directly with those of your list of competitors.</p> <p>Tracking changes to your competition over time can clue you into changes that they have made to their product lineup. For example, you might see that they are quickly increasing in followers as a clue that they have launched a viral campaign that you may want to be aware, or perhaps your competitor has introduced a product with a new following.</p> <p>You can see great examples of this in the auto industry. Let us look at this one-month trend chart that compares Audi, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz. Reviewing the engagement trend for the previous month clues us into the fact that Mercedes made a big announcement on the 29<sup>th</sup>of March, which is the day their engagement spiked, albeit temporarily. As a social media professional interested in the beating the competition, you might want to see what they did on that day to generate buzz.</p> <p>Now let us head over to the Brand Monitoring Tool. You can find it by locating your project in the SEMrush&nbsp;<em>Projects&nbsp;</em>menu.</p> <p>Continue by clicking on the brand monitoring tool in the dashboard of your project. If you have not already, enter the relevant parameters.<span style="font-size: 10px;">&nbsp;</span></p> <p>Once the system processes your campaign, you will be presented with a screen that highlights all the times your firm was mentioned on the web, and separately, Twitter.</p> <p>The tool is great because it will keep you in the loop concerning positive or negative feedback about your brand. The tool searches for keywords among text, @mentions, and #hashtags.<span style="font-size: 10px;">&nbsp;</span></p> <p>You can monitor your entire industry or narrow your search to particular segments. The tool&rsquo;s Wizard allows you to monitor up to 3 keywords, and you can also add context words.</p> <p>You can even use the tool to find potential clients. While monitoring tweets that contain certain keywords, you can easily offer users your goods and services.&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="font-size: 10px;">Click the&nbsp;</span><em style="font-size: 10px;">Twitter</em><span style="font-size: 10px;">tab - you will see all mentions found according to the same wizard presets as in the&nbsp;</span><em style="font-size: 10px;">Web</em><span style="font-size: 10px;">tab. Also, you can narrow your search results for different types of mentions on Twitter, for example Tweet text, @username, #hashtag.</span><span style="font-size: 10px;">&nbsp;</span></p> <p>Click on the&nbsp;<em>Statistics</em>tab</p> <p>Here you will find the Link to the URL&nbsp;mentions filter and&nbsp;Backlinks statistics<strong>.</strong>Track daily backlinks distribution with the handy&nbsp;Backlinks by day&nbsp;chart and quickly export this chart to a PNG image file.</p> <p>Also export a table of your domain's&nbsp;<strong>Top Backlinks</strong>&nbsp;list with the number of mentions to CSV file &ndash; with just one click.<span style="font-size: 10px;">&nbsp;</span></p> <p>Use the Brand Monitoring Tool to track mentions from a specific domain. To do this, just click the Resources tab, then click&nbsp;<em>Track Resource</em>where you can enter a URL. If your brand has a podcast, you might want to track a URL like Player.fm to see what they are saying about your podcast.</p> <p>We find this feature of the tool particularly helpful when working with partners to see what they are writing about us. It could also provide a filtered insight into what a fierce competitor is trying to do to defeat you. Beat your competition by reacting quickly to their social media digs against your brand. For example, if you are Apple, you might want to see if Samsung is libeling you behind your back.</p> <p>Let me take another moment and recap:</p> <ul> <li><span style="font-size: 10px;">First, we find it helpful to review the net aggregate Likes and Unlikes of our Facebook channel. It gives a clearer picture of our success in attracting followers than Likes alone. Use the Social Media Poster to see this metric.</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 10px;">Second,&nbsp;when setting up a new brand monitoring routine, make sure you think about how to organize it. For example, you may want to consider tracking your brand differently in the English language versus German or French</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 10px;">Third, use the Brand Monitoring Tool to filter Twitter mentions by date, username, and hashtag. Twitter is an abyss of information, so if you do not employ filtering, you will not find the data you need to make timely, actionable decisions.</span><span style="font-size: 10px;">&nbsp;</span></li> </ul> <p>And finally, always be tracking your users&rsquo; reactions, as well as your number of followers and postings with the Social Media tracker.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <hr /> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>So that is the third in the Euro Digital Partners series on social media management. Timing does matter, even on the platforms that do not organize content chronologically.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Posting at peak times gives you the initial surge of engagement that will turboboost your posts in the algorithms. This will significantly increase the reach of those specific posts. With competition in users&rsquo; feeds ever increasing, any boost you can give your content is a good thing.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>With that concept in mind, follow along with me in the SEMrush too. After logging in, you want to load the Social Media workspace, then head over to the Social Media Poster tool. You can also find this in the Projects section</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Let us consider Facebook scheduling for a moment. Because of the way that Facebook prioritizes news feeds, the impact of scheduling is not as key as it is on Twitter. Because Twitter is chronological, you will want to pay particular attention to user trends when posting on Twitter.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>That said, when scheduling content for your Facebook pages in the Social Media Poster, you will be able to see the times when your audience is most likely to be online, and schedule your posts accordingly.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>With SEMrush&rsquo;s Social Media Poster tool, you no longer need a different browser window open for each media account.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Clicking on the Marketing Calendar takes you to a scheduling tool that allows you to schedule all your posts at once.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>With Social Media Poster, you can set publication to any combination of your social profiles, saving you time, and reducing errors. You can add images, GIFs, and links to your posts.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>You also have the choice to:</p> <p>-add these posts to your queue</p> <p>-post them immediately</p> <p>-save them as drafts</p> <p>-or schedule them to be posted later.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Clicking the&nbsp;<em>Published&nbsp;</em>tab will give you this information at a glance, providing you a snapshot view of each post&rsquo;s performance.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>With the information about successful posts in hand, you can begin work on new, crafty social postings. For many people, setting aside time every day to create fun, thoughtful posts is unrealistic.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Fortunately, you do not need to have timely content to post every single day. In many cases, it is easier to spend one or two days a month creating large a queue of social media content that is ready to post any time you have a void to be filled, and that is where the&nbsp;<em>Queues&nbsp;</em>tab comes in.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>The Social Media Poster&rsquo;s&nbsp;<em>Queues</em>functionality enables you to create specific posts that you want to be shared when there is an empty space in the schedule, and it allows you to decide when you&rsquo;d like queued posts to &ldquo;go live.&rdquo;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>The social content queues are designed to make life easier, as you can make last-minute changes from one neatly organized place.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Remember, maintaining lengthy queues assures that you will never run out of fresh content, so your social campaign results will be&nbsp;<em>much</em>stronger thanks to the posting regularity.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Let us move to the&nbsp;<em>Content Ideas tab.</em></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Once you have found the brands that you want to share posts from, our Social Media Poster will allow you to set up RSS feeds that can help you post external content from these brands to your channel&rsquo;s own social profiles.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>The feeds will automatically be updated with all new content from any given brand&rsquo;s RSS feeds, which you can then share to your clients&rsquo; profiles with just a few clicks.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>You can schedule these posts just like you would any other content, with additional options available to publish them immediately, or put them into the queue.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Use this tool to build stronger relationships with other brands in your field. Lead Generation Series Part 5 - Referrals and more

Look at your Facebook and LinkedIn friends list, or even just your address book. Between the 3, I count several thousand names. You might have similar numbers in your lists. Most of the time though, you are not going to be in close contact with them. In fact, you might even be looking for an excuse to reach out to them and say hello, and that is where referrals come into play.</span><span style="font-size: 10px;">&nbsp;</span></p> <p>It is useful to obtain customer referrals&nbsp;<em>because everyone knows someone. It is called the circle of friends, or degrees of separation effect, on social media. Take that few thousand names mentioned earlier and extrapolate it to the 3<sup>rd</sup>degree, and you could be talking about circles of friends that number into the six digits. There are probably a few people in there that are interested to hear about what you are selling.</em></p> <p>A word to the wise: do not forget about your existing clients. Leads generated through customer referrals are often the highest quality. Always be asking for referrals. Even if someone is not in need of marketing services (who isn&rsquo;t?), they will probably know someone who is. If needed,&nbsp;<em>incentivize</em>them to introduce you. You often see this in corporate hiring where the company will pay their employees if the employee brings in a new worker. It saves the company money, and brings extra income to the employee, who could probably make use of a few thousand dollars.&nbsp;</p> <p>Remember that referrals lead generation is all about people helping people!</p> <p><em>Sharing referrals leads us to the tenth recommendation in this lead generation series, which is to share valuable content!</em></p> <p>It probably seems obvious now that you have heard it, but at Euro Digital Partners, we have produced loads of valuable content from podcasts to articles and videos for our business developers to share with leads. You can use this content as lures as mentioned in a previous podcast, or just try a shotgun approach and throw as much content all over the web as you like. Both can work.</p> <p>And if you are in marketing in some capacity, feel free to look at our various Euro Digital Partners Marketing Insights posts, and share them on LinkedIn, Facebook, Google, Twitter, Pinterest, and with prospective clients on any other forums you think could work.</p> <p>Remember that the more you share, the more thankful people will be and want to return your generosity. The web thrives on sharing after all!</p> <p>A final tip before we close this series is to get involved in associations. Not only does association involvement engage you with people interested in your services, but well-run associations will have staff in charge of networking their various members together, making your work easier.&nbsp;</p> <p>Some even have low or free introductory rates for you to try them out.</p> <p>In the United States, for example, you can easily find local Chambers of Commerce and Small Business Associations, which can be useful for meeting firms that are ready to make buying decisions.</p> <p>So that is the fifth part of the Euro Digital Partners series on Lead Generation. Let&rsquo;s leverage that! Do you like having engaging discussions with others? Leverage THAT!</em></p> <p>While not everyone has the same talent for writing or debating, if you have an interest, it&rsquo;s best to encourage that interest. You can do this by offering to write for websites that have the same sort of audience you are trying to get leads from. The same goes for podcasts.&nbsp;</p> <p>You always want to be on the lookout for opportunities that can cement your position as a thought leader. You want people who are looking to buy things that you sell to think of you first when it comes time to make a purchase. Think about a corporate lawyer who appears on a podcast like the Amicus podcast. The lawyer might want to appear on the show to establish themselves as an expert in the ways that the courts treat corporations as people so that when a company runs into this type of case, they would think about that lawyer first.&nbsp;</p> <p>Imagine you are selling marketing services. Going on a marketing podcast to talk about an emerging trend in marketing like chat bots would put you first in mind among people who are thinking about implementing this technology in their marketing platforms.</p> <p>You might be asking yourself, so great advice, but how can I begin to establish these kinds of relationships. There are a few ways to further establish yourself and find leads.</p> <p>One is just to write directly to a reporter or podcast host and suggest a problem you&rsquo;ve observed and how you&rsquo;ve got a unique solution. That can certainly be a great way to get the ball rolling.&nbsp;</p> <p>Another way would be to find out where reporters go for sourcing stories.&nbsp;<a href="https://www.helpareporter.com/">HARO</a>, which is an acronym for &ldquo;Help a Reporter Out,&rdquo; is a good website that can connect you to journalists and writers. Imagine you want to target an industry, say marketing by dental clinics. Spend a few seconds each day perusing the listings at HARO. You can set up a daily or semi-daily email newsletter where you receive all the questions about which reporters are currently seeking opinions and information. Your contributions could be useful to contributing to the work of these journalists. Your developed expertise in this industry could get you cited, so people reading the article will come to you directly with inquiries, in this case for dental practice marketing services.</p> <p>Guest blogging can be a very powerful way to spread your message further. Euro Digital Partners actively encourages members of our firm or other marketing experts, like you, to write for the EDP&nbsp;<a href="https://www.eurodigitalpartners.com/insights">Marketing Insights page</a>. Write about what you know in the context of the industry you are targeting and the marketing services offered by Euro Digital Partners, and you will be sure to have lots of success, especially if you pitch the post to other blogs. We will even make a podcast to further distribute your contribution. Other leading marketing agencies might be doing the same, so think about taking your basic idea and adapting it to different firms.</p> <p>The second area that we should examine in this segment is the value of face-to-face communication. I am talking about taking the time out of your online life and chatting with people.<em>Have real, meaningful conversations with your prospects, and if you can do it in person, over a meal or coffee, all the better!</em></p> <p>I like what a friend of mine does. He works in a big office, and anytime he sees someone new in the halls he invites them to lunch. He is always asking questions because he wants to learn more about the people he works with. He does it because he knows it will make him a better person, not just a better worker.&nbsp;</p> <p>Never rely solely on one-directional communication such as websites, blog posts, and videos.&nbsp;&nbsp;Think about the progression of a human relationship.</p> <p>If you are emailing with your lead, offer to have a video call. If you are in a video call, offer to meet them. Try and get closer to your leads every time you interact with them. We think eventually they will agree to sit down and hear a proposal from you.&nbsp;</p> <p>And let us be honest, it is a numbers game, so the more proposals, the more closed deals and the more successful you will be in your career!</p> <p>Let me leave you with a top tip: If you decide to write for a website, make sure that a competent native speaker checks your work before you submit it. Errors in the writing might lead the publisher to reconsider. If you are doing some speaking for a podcast, make sure you have the right equipment in place and test it before you &ldquo;go live.&rdquo; The Boy Scouts employ a motto that I cannot recommend enough: &ldquo;Always be Prepared.&rdquo; Take that advice and thank us later.</p> <p>So that is the fourth part of the Euro Digital Partners series on Lead Generation. Read through the hype though: it isn&rsquo;t just a megaphone for the US President or Kim Kardashian. Tons of great people are on Twitter, including influencers that can potentially assist in creating buzz about your firm.&nbsp;</p> <p>After you find the right people, however, it&rsquo;s all about engaging them, which can start with following them or taking part in a thread, or series of tweets from different people.</p> <p>Sending tweets yourself is part of the deal when it comes to Twitter. Just lurking around on certain hashtags or on certain people is an inadequate response.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>There are a few eccentricities about Twitter which I would point out because they are common oversights.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li>First, stick to using one or two hashtags per tweet, no less and no more.&nbsp;</li> <li>Second, keep in mind that when you start a tweet with the @ symbol followed by a user handle, the message will go directly to that person.&nbsp;</li> <li>Third, keep your tweets short. Twitter now allows 280 characters but do not use them all, and really do not leave your message to span more than one tweet. People do not have time to read your loquacious statements even if you are the President or Kim Kardashian.</li> <li>And finally, if you are including a link in your tweet, be sure to track it using a service like Bitly or Google URL Shortener. When it comes to digital marketing, tracking is everything!</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>You can use Twitter&rsquo;s search functionality to find people using relevant hashtags, keywords, or use LinkedIn to find interesting professionals.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Using Twitter effectively for lead generation requires a significant amount of time, but if done right, it can yield great results.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Also, be sure to use the &ldquo;Lists&rdquo; feature in Twitter. You can develop lists based on the industry or region you might be targeting. You can also use tools like Tweetdeck to streamline the process a bit.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>One of the cool things about&nbsp;<em>Lists</em>is that you can re-use the list to promote to a specific group of people on Twitter. Lead generation is not merely contacting someone out of the blue, it is just one step of a sales funnel.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>If you have developed a solid list of say 1,500 twitter handles you can export that list from Twitter, clean it up in Microsoft Excel, and then re-upload it to the Twitter Ads side of Twitter. Why you cannot directly import a list is a terrible oversight in the system, but if you import the list and filter out the cells that do not start with the @ symbol, you have a perfect list of uploadable Twitter handles. Then save that list to a .CSV file, and you can easily upload that document as a new &ldquo;audience&rdquo; in Twitter. Once Twitter approves that list, you can develop an advertisement targeting that audience.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><em>Let us move on to the second part of this podcast, which is using services like Quora for lead generation.</em></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Quora is the foremost question and answer service on the internet. It uses crowdsourcing and peer reviews to provide the best answers to user questions.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>At Euro Digital Partners, we use&nbsp;<a href="https://www.quora.com/profile/Sean-Patterson-2">Quora</a>frequently because it can be a great source of new sales leads. Your customers are already on Quora trying to find answers to the problems that your firm solves. If you go there to help them, you&rsquo;ll generate leads from delighted users.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Euro Digital Partners is already using&nbsp;Quora for lead generation. We have used it recently to promote an affiliate program for one of our partners in the financial sector.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>A couple of things about Quora:</p> <p>First, do note that the first 50 characters of your profile are shown above each answer you post, so use the space carefully.&nbsp;</p> <p>Second, you can also use different &ldquo;credentials&rdquo; for your various answers, which helps to establish you as a reliable &ldquo;authority&rdquo; on a particular topic. For example, if you used to work for Apple, and like to answer questions about technology, you would boost your authority by citing your work experience at the tech giant. If you are answering marketing questions, cite your credentials with your current marketing firm, assuming you are doing business development for a firm like&nbsp;<a href="http://www.eurodigitalpartners.com/">Euro Digital Partners</a>, that is.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Let me leave you with a top tip: as I said in the second part of this series on lead generation, make sure you clean up your profiles. It might seem like overkill to keep hitting on this point but we have seen so many people lose business because of this that we&rsquo;d be remiss if we did not discuss it again. On that note, do be sure to fill out your profile complete and include links to your various online profiles. In exchange for this free piece of information, the client is expected to give a piece of information in return.</p> <p>Lead magnets take many forms. For example, we once advised an online photo developer to give away five free photo prints when a person gave them their contact information and agreed to receive the company&rsquo;s newsletter. This was a great publicity tool that spread quickly because with the advent of digital photography, we so often lack the tactile memento that a photograph represents. We look at thousands of photographs every day online, but sometimes it is the photograph in physical form that establishes an emotional connection. That emotionality is what we were trying to sell, so offering a sampling of the product made a lot of sense.</p> <p>A recent example that Euro Digital Partners has used is a roadmap for founders of would-be blockchain firms who are thinking about running an initial coin offering. Upon hitting our ICO page, they are asked if they want to download a &ldquo;Roadmap to the ICO,&rdquo; which is a sort of checklist of all the key ingredients required for a successful ICO in 2018.</p> <p>We might even take the Lead Generation guidebook we developed for our own staff and use it as a lead magnet. No doubt visitors to our site would love that one!</p> <p>Do you have a tool you&rsquo;ve developed that could be useful for someone else, and is easily distributed in digital form? Or, can you create something like that?</p> <p>Creating something of high value and offering it in exchange for a piece of information is a great way to make contacts. Moreover, this content can make you friends and overcome objections. Now what marketer or business developer doesn&rsquo;t want friends when they can be converted to&nbsp;leads and sales!?</p> <p>What about your business? Is there something you can offer people? We love to help!</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Now that we&rsquo;ve discussed the importance of lead magnets in developing a cohesive lead generation strategy, let&rsquo;s move on to discuss how participation in online groups can generate leads.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Are you a member of&nbsp;a relevant Facebook&nbsp;or LinkedIn group? If you aren&rsquo;t, you should be!</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Because humans are naturally social animals, and because we curry favor with others when we communicate effectively with them, participating in online forums builds trust and brings your personal brand and the brand of your company first in mind when your services are required.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Imagine you want to offer services to Digital Nomads to help them run their freelancing businesses. Joining local Digital Nomads groups on Facebook would be an excellent way to attract future clients. What&rsquo;s more is that the more you participate, the more likely people will turn to you for leadership, and that builds your credibility.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Or let&rsquo;s say you run business development for a digital marketing agency that specializes in the automotive sectors. Joining a group of automotive dealer executives on LinkedIn might be the perfect group for you to spread word about your firm.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>If you are targeting a niche where Facebook and LinkedIn are lacking groups, try starting a group from scratch. You might be surprised by the number of people who join your group out of curiosity or need.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>With Facebook, the discussion tends to be quite local, so sign up for groups relevant to the industries&nbsp;<em>and&nbsp;</em><em>regions&nbsp;</em>you are targeting! For example, if you are trying to target freelancers in Prague, you might start by joining the Prague Digital Nomads group.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Let me leave you with a top tip.&nbsp;Remember to make sure your&nbsp;<a href="https://blog.leadfeeder.com/social-media-profile-for-sales/%22%20%5Ct%20%22_self">profile is in good shape</a>&nbsp;when taking part online!&nbsp;&nbsp;If you tend to post potentially embarrassing photos online, hide them, or better yet, remove them. If you take part in political groups, and you are not doing political marketing, unfollow and unlike those as well. Removing objectionable material is critical to attracting clients online. With millions of businesses and many more business leaders, it is challenging to know who to reach out to in a business that could make a decision about purchasing digital marketing services like that which Euro Digital Partners offers. One tip that can help you clarify an audience is to pick an industry and region of interest. If you love technology and speak German, market yourself to tech startups in the DACH, that is Germany, Austrian, and Swiss countries! A second area to consider are your “Friends and Family Circles,” think about who you know that manages an office. Many offices, however small, find benefit from outsourcing tasks where the office would lack the core competency. Did you ever meet a dentist who was an expert marketer? Probably not. Most would feel more comfortable outsourcing that part of the business to Euro Digital Partners. Key is to understand what the business does before you take a call and then to sell them on the idea of a call with one of Euro Digital Partners’ strategists, who can help define the scope of what the business’ marketing needs are at the present time. Once you have exhausted your friends and family contacts, and once you have narrowed your focus, turn to your marketing intelligence tools to generate lead gen ideas. The first we would highlight is SEMrush – it’s an online marketing intelligence tool that allows you to discover keywords related to a business you might be targeting, or competitors to that business. Now you do not have to be working in an industry for many years to find out quite a lot about it. Spending just a few minutes running search queries will be enough to get you a great list of companies to target. The second way Euro Digital Partners uses it is to start a conversation. Imagine being able to diagnose a problem the business is encountering without ever having heard of the company before. Say you are a digital agency like Euro Digital Partners. We use the Site Audit tool in the SEMrush Projects section to do just that. The site audit tool calculates, among other things, the searchability and configuration quality of a website. So, an introductory conversation might go something like this, “Mr. Smith my analytics tools suggested that your website has a failing score of 48%, which is likely severely impacting your ability to connect with potential clients online. I am sure you have many more important tasks to accomplish than straighten out the minutiae of how search engine optimization and website work, but the strategists at Euro Digital Partners have been working on exactly these types of challenges since the early stages of web development. Moving on from finding the companies to target, you need to connect with the right individuals… the decision makers. A gentle way to do this is via email. For many companies, just emailing ceo@companyx.com or firstname.lastname@companyx.com might be what you need to connect with the right person, but there are other tools. An obvious one would be to use linked in to try to identify the right people after which you could connect with them using a personal note, or by sending an InMail. But not everyone is on LinkedIn or similar services, so if you run into that hurdle there are a few websites we would recommend you use to uncover email. You need to be creative, and different! Lots of companies have run this type&nbsp;of&nbsp;contest to take a look at your competitors and think of something out the box and different. You can offer your latest products that may be going viral or a bundle that has a high perceived value to motivate people to take part: Something that is only $10 in value may not work, so make it an irresistible offer no one can turn down! This will increase the value and interest. 5 must-do tasks to improve your website today!

As much as ever, your website serves as a starting point for disseminating information about your organization.</span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">It is hard to know where to start when it comes to prioritizing marketing tasks, so we thought we would start you off with a few suggestions.</span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <ol> <li><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">Setup Google Analytics. Google Analytics starts by placing a piece of code in the header tags of your website that links back to your Google Analytics account. It records most all the various activity on your webpage, helping you to spend more time optimizing the pages that everyone is visiting, or allowing you to fix the ones that no one wants to review. There are two best practices that we would like to highlight in this article:</span><ol> <li><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">Think about the data you want to collect and filter. For example, you might want to create view filters for internal company visits versus external visitors.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">Analyze the sales funnel. Google Analytics has some cool visual tools. When set up correctly, you see where your website is struggling to convert visitors into customers on your site. For example, you can use the visualization to discover that users might be getting stuck on the checkout page of your website, which would be an indication that you need to change something for easier facilitation.</span></li> </ol></li> <li><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">Have an outsider critique your user experience. The key to this is to find the right person to assess your site. You want someone who is not particularly biased, so friends and family are out. Consider hiring a marketing consultant who feels comfortable giving you an honest and detailed review, and make sure you have a contract signed and paid. Often, both parties are worried about the payment part, which can cloud the honest opinion. It makes sense that freelancers and agencies who want to fulfill a contract cannot give an honest opinion when they are under duress about payment.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">Conduct a security audit. If you have not done a recent security audit (and especially if you&nbsp;<em>NEVER</em>&nbsp;have), a comprehensive external security audit is a recommended step to assure the safety of your clients&rsquo; data. Most firms do not do this often enough, and that is where we read horrific stories about firms like Target, Yahoo, or Equifax losing customer data, which is an excellent way to run your business into bankruptcy. Euro Digital Partners believe security is a constantly overlooked area of business management. We think security goes hand in hand with your marketing strategy, so we started offering it to keep our clients&rsquo; data safely stored.</span><br /><br /><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">A comprehensive security audit should include, at minimum, the following steps:</span><ol> <li><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">Analyzing which assets need to be protected</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">Conceptual analysis</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">Developing a plan for minimizing risks</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">Setting loose a &ldquo;red team,&rdquo; whose expertise is trying to break into the system to expose (and later fix) vulnerabilities before malicious parties discover them.</span></li> </ol></li> <li><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">Think about content. Content is still king in 2017. Google Analytics can help assess which of your pages is most viewed by your site visitors, but there are many tools out there.</span><ol> <li><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">Euro Digital Partners uses, depending upon the specific job, more than a dozen different tools to analyze which products are being viewed or which articles are most relevant.</span></li> <li><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">Euro Digital Partners looks at page views to determine which articles might be most relevant to visitors, and we use that information to plan a social media and/or advertising campaign. A lot of people think that by putting their thoughts on a website, they are giving away their proprietary information, gratis. On face, that is true, but this suggestion is shortsighted because it has two benefits. First, it shows that you are confident in the material you create and its usefulness to visitors. Second, it helps open a dialogue between you and potential clients. Clients will feel more comfortable introducing themselves if you have introduced&nbsp;<em>yourself</em>, adequately.</span></li> </ol></li> <li><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">Add a tracking pixel. Adding a tracking pixel to your site (using as an example, Facebook Pixel) allows you to track your visitors. Track who adds items to the shopping cart, initiates check out, and then build a custom lookalike audience for creating remarking campaigns. Target the people who know your brand with specific offers and modify your content based on user interests.</span></li> </ol> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">You can see there is a lot you can do today, so get started! Why is Digital Marketing more important than ever in 2018?

Euro Digital Partners thought we should update you on where we, and our clients, are spending their marketing budget. At Euro Digital Partners, we largely work with companies that want to have a strong international digital marketing presence. Chiefly, Digital Marketing Managers&nbsp;believe, as a rule, that they get more return on investment when every dollar spent is tracked and evaluated.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Driving informed ROI is data analytics. Analytics is at the core of digital marketing and forms the basis for discovering more intuitive, data-driven decision making at all organizations, large and small, for-profit and non-profit. We have even had discussions with diplomatic embassies who are seeking to spread their message to a cross-cultural audience. Data helps us to understand cultural differences better and create messaging that communicates more effectively to the desired audience.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>In the past, speed and low-cost was a key advantage to using digital marketing services, including advertising. Now, many larger firms with enormous budgets can take those budgets and reach a broad audience due to their higher bid&nbsp;rates for top advertising spots. It means that firms with lesser budgets must be smarter about how they spend their ad budget.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Our advice:</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>1. Implement a solid list of metrics that will drive the digital marketing team. Is it just enough to measure hits to your website? Probably not. You want to know where people go on the website and when they leave. Knowing the funnel and the touch points are critical. For example, how many times might a buyer of your product view an ad, visit your website, or how many times might they read some of your newsletters before they begin the buying process? Once they start that process, how quickly do they complete it? Knowing the answers to these questions will be critical in 2018.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>2. Develop a suite of tools that you can reliably use. We counted around 20 tools that we use on a weekly basis. Some of them we like, and others we do not. What is clear is that there are always new tools coming to the market, so we have to spend a fair amount of time searching for them and testing them out. A few make it on our "favourites" list.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>3. Think internationally. If your firm only thinks about the people in your city, region, state, or country, think again. International audiences are easier to reach than ever and are more willing to try foreign products and services than ever before. Now is the time to branch out!</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>4. Bring in people who are knowledgeable as well as interested making your product better. Modern digital marketing tools require a great deal of expertise, and more importantly, for you to constantly learn new processes. None of the best tools has the same sub-set of tools from one year to the next. The product is constantly being developed, so hiring an agency or employee with the ability to adapt is critical. Additionally, you should assure that these people are motivated to represent your company. Just filling a chair doesn&rsquo;t quite help you, even if they have the expertise. That&rsquo;s because they will not go the extra mile to satisfy your customers. In 2018, customers expect a better experience than you have ever offered before. Do not forget that it has also been easier than ever for your customers to find someone who DOES provide better service.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Digital marketing borrows many concepts from traditional marketing, but it is clearly geared toward driving online conversions. Deciding when you need to use one or the other is a bit of an art. Increasingly, marketing firms are becoming more specialized on one of the two, and that is fine. For complicated projects, you want people who do their specific activity well and can manage the complexities, which are growing and will continue to grow in 2018. Where our clients put their money in 2018

In 2018, a few trends emerged. For example, more than ever before, clients were spending money on search engine marketing and influencer marketing.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Other areas where money was spent, in no particular order:</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li>Social Media Management</li> <li>Site-targeted banner advertising</li> <li>Search engine optimization</li> <li>Website redesign (especially enhancing e-commerce strategies)</li> <li>Analytics</li> <li>Sales and Marketing automation</li> <li>Content creation (including text and video)</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Our analysis is that business decision makers are putting their money in areas that could improve service but without increasing long-term costs. There seems to be little appetite in growing headcount, even if outsourced through an agency. This might be, in part, due to the desire to return more money to shareholders, or due to a lack of consistency or competency (i.e. difficulty of finding) new staff.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Take, for example, one of the new social media services we offer. We recently worked with a large hotel chain to develop a &ldquo;bot&rdquo; (i.e., robot) that takes a reservation for a hotel room. It is a rudimentary form of AI, but will continue to improve, especially as customers ask more questions, and hotel managers seek to hire fewer sales and reservation staff.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>You could also imagine this working quite well for barbershops and doctors&rsquo; offices. Imagine a scenario where you go your dentist&rsquo;s Facebook page, explain that you have pain in your left top molar, and have had it for 3 days, and from that, the bot can schedule an appointment for you, negotiating the time slot based on your particular complication. Why do-it-yourself Facebook advertising might be a bad idea in 2018

For some, developing a community through a Facebook business page is likely to be enough, but for others, the ability to build a specific audience based on psychographic information, and then advertising specific messages to that target audience, is critical to new product rollout campaign goals.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Still, for the uninitiated, Facebook advertising is a daunting platform to use. Only a small fraction, maybe 20% do really well with it. Most companies are simply ineffective, and a few lose their shirts, failing miserably and then ignore the platform from there onward.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Euro Digital Partners likes to learn from the mistakes of others so that we do not make the same mistakes, so we did a little research, including chats with prospective clients, to understand better what we should advise our clients to avoid in their planning and execution.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>The problem with Facebook&rsquo;s advertising is that it isn&rsquo;t very intuitive. For the experienced, certified marketer, it isn&rsquo;t so different from Google, but it has a fairly steep learning curve. This low expertise in the Facebook platform puts it out of the reach of the average (or worse) marketer.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>One of the challenges of the Facebook tool is that it requires manual creation of advertisements. This means you have to have a solid grasp of graphic design and the associated tools, a very good copywriting background in the language you are targeting, and tools to assess your competitors&rsquo; ads. Lacking that, you are better off outsourcing to a third party.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>On this point, we&rsquo;d like to add that the point of Facebook marketing isn&rsquo;t to get the most likes, page views, or video views. It&rsquo;s actually about ROI. In other words, tracking for expenditures and conversions. But just how much money does Facebook generate for the client?
